The Cheesemaker’s Inn began its life as a farmhouse for a dairy in the early 1900s. The 1980s farm crisis caused the family farm to dissolve, and the farm land was sold off in parcels. The house remained in the family and was turned into de Boederij (the Home Place) Bed and Breakfast. Two sons started a dairy business in the area, with the specialty of making traditional Dutch gouda cheese.
The name of the bed and breakfast was changed to The Cheesemaker’s Inn to reflect the new cheesemaking venture. The Inn is currently being run by Rob and Kim, who returned to the Pella area after a career in the Air Force.
Frustration over the cost of making simple changes to their earlier website caused The Cheesemakers’ Inn to consider other options for their website. Being able to use their website on mobile devices was also important to them. They wanted an online reservation system that would simply the administrative tasks they had to complete when someone booked a room.
